Viktor's Free Companies of the Gilded Hand - Month 0
Thanks to Chalmers for starting this! I've always dreamed to do a Tales of Four Gamers thing and this was just the push I needed.
I've been in the hobby since HeroQuest came out, but my first army book ever was the 5th edition Dogs of War. Sadly, I never got to start collecting them and then GW discontinued the line, so I went for Orcs & Goblins, but that's another story.

This was also the time when Mordheim came out. I have had so much fun playing the game and converting warbands for it, mostly Skaven as someone in our group had to play the bad guy.

So, now I can bring my two passions together. The idea is that every month I'll build and paint a Regiment of Renown inspired by the classic Dogs of War book that I can also use for Mordheim (yes, I still play it!). AoS army synergy works perfectly for that and every regiment will be an army on its own for smaller games.
Fluff wise, the entire army will be the Free Companies of the Gilded Hand, a coven of alchemists from Chamon. During the Age of Myth, in their quest for magical and rare substances, they travelled the Realms escorted by mercenaries. When the Age of Chaos came, they retreated to their fortresses on the lagoon of Venythia. There, their mercenaries kept them safe from the ravages of Chaos. Over the centuries, refugees from all the Realms have flocked there, eager to join the mercenary regiments or founding their own to fight against Chaos.
Very cool. Look forward to seeing the progress.

ReplyDeleteSuch a cool project. And I get to face them across the battlefield!
DeleteHell yeah! This was my first idea, but I wanted something more elfy.
ReplyDeleteDogs of War were awesome ! Cool project, can't wait to see the minis :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to see some love for Mordheim! I still have my original core set and witch hunter warband from back in the day. I hope they pump some new energy into with the specialty games.
ReplyDeleteHaving said all that this is the army I am most looking forward to seeing so far (No offense to anyone else of course!)
